Benefits of ORAFLEX® Cushion Mounting Tape
ORAFLEX® Cushion Mounting Tape is used in Flexographic printing to firmly secure Flexographic plates to printing cylinders or sleeves to prevent the plate from lifting during the printing process, particularly at locations of high-pressure ink transfer.
The compressible foam layer also works to improve print quality by providing a slight cushioning effect that facilitates consistent ink transfer. Printers can choose ORAFLEX® Cushion Mounting Tape with differing levels of firmness to achieve desired print results:
- Soft foam hardness – minimize dot gain on screens
- Medium foam hardness – ideal for a combination of full surface and grid printed images
- Firm foam hardness – optimal color transfer on closed full surface
ORAFLEX® Cushion Mounting Tapes are also available in a variety of adhesion strengths, based on the size of the cylinder the printing plate is being adhered to. Weak adhesion is best for large cylinders, medium adhesion for medium cylinders, and strong adhesion for smaller cylinders with a tight circumference.

The ORAFLEX® 118 Series covers the 0.5 mm / 20 mil application thickness category and is available in nine unique adhesion and foam hardness combinations, ranging from weak to strong adhesion and soft to firm foam hardness.
Each level of foam hardness is clearly indicated on the PET film with a classifying printed color logo, allowing printers to quickly identify the right tape for the job.
